Forest School
We dug our potatoes from our raised beds and got them ready to sell at the front of school. Come and have a look!
We made our own paintbrushes using willow. We had to take the bark off the willow, hammer it to flatten it and trim the willow into a paintbrush shape. We then crushed chalk using sticks and mixed it with water to make our own paint. We found lots of objects around the Forest School area to paint on.
We made colour spinning wheels using wooden discs and sticks. We learned how to safely use a saw and a hammer and nails to connect our wheel to our stick.
We read the story the Hungry Caterpillar and decided to make our own caterpillars by using the leaves that have fallen around our Forest School area.
We were learning how to cut, peel and core sticks this morning to make them into ‘Blow sticks’ for bubbles. We also looked at camouflage in the environment by hiding red and green worms for the birds to find.
We were learning about different trees, making pictures using what we have in our outdoor area and enjoying smores by the fire. We learned how we must not leave a trace when we are enjoying the outdoors as well as staying safe around the fire. We got to draw pictures using the ash.
